Testicular Cancer Awareness Month With MANSCAPED
The list of things that are “weird to talk about in public” is getting shorter and shorter as the years go by. I like to think of myself as an open book.
At this point in my life, just about anything is up for discussion. I don’t get rattled easily, don’t often get uncomfortable, and I almost always take the honest road over hiding the details.
There’s your disclaimer, or, alternatively, my introduction to the reality that I’m here to once again talk to you about my experience shaving my pubic hair. I assure you, if it’s not weird for you, it’s definitely not weird for me.
I’ve been using MANSCAPED’s trimmer, The Lawn Mower® 4.0, for almost six months now, along with products from their Performance Package 4.0. I’m sold. You can score 20% off using that link.
As a long-time big-bearded guy, I have never had much of a need for an electric razor and therefore didn’t put too much priority on cleaning up below the belt either. I was definitely making the wrong moves down there. Truthfully, after some serious sanitation, I can say that The Lawn Mower is my favorite option for trimming down wherever you need it. Is that gross? I’m sure you’d do it too.
While definitely a private thing to talk about, grooming downtown and making sure you’re taking care of that area, in particular, is still a very important thing to talk about and keep a general awareness of, even if it feels a little uncomfortable. We’re not just talking about grooming, though, we’re talking about health.
As part of its brand mission, MANSCAPED partners with the Testicular Cancer Society to raise awareness around the most commonly found type of cancer in 15-35-year-old males. This is important stuff, and MANSCAPED’s commitment to educating us on quick but life-saving steps for early detection is near the top of the list of reasons why I’ve gotten behind them as a brand in my home. So, while it can be hard to talk about out in the open, let’s have that discussion.
In honor of Testicular Cancer Awareness Month (which is April – did you know that?) MANSCAPED and the Testicular Cancer Society have upped the stakes of their partnership and collaborated on a limited release of The Lawn Mower 4.0, with all the same standout features and, this time, in an iconic purple finish. Read on for some thoughts on why the Mower wins best in class in my book, as well as a few tips from the collaborators on how to stay safe down there year-round.
Using The Lawn Mower 4.0
As I said, The Lawn Mower 4.0 has been my (nearly) daily driver since before the holidays of last year. Before then, I didn’t put much stake in keeping myself groomed down there.
I’ve kept up with routine maintenance and can attest to being generally happier about it since. I could dive a little deeper into how a cleaner slate makes me feel better about my own appearance or how it’s a nice treat for my significant other, but I’ll let you figure those bits out for yourself. For now, let me jump in on what makes The Lawn Mower 4.0 a cut above the rest.
It’s just the right size. While this goes against everything you’ve ever heard around “size doesn’t matter”, in this case, it really makes a difference. The Lawn Mower 4.0 is compact, lightweight, and obviously designed with movability in mind.
Bonus: this is without a doubt the best razor I’ve come into contact with for traveling. Turn on the travel lock, throw it in your dopp kit, grab the charger, and you’re good to go. Okay, make sure you brush any remaining hairs off before putting it next to your toothbrush, THEN you’re good!
It’s easy to use. Aside from the initial charging of the device, you literally take it out of the box and you’re good to go after hitting the button to turn it on. MANSCAPED pays you the extra favor in including a handful of good tips and best practices for new users. Read ‘em, but I have no doubt you can figure it out after one go.
I haven’t missed a spot since switching to The Lawn Mower 4.0. Seriously. That’s thanks to the LED light function, a design addition that I likely never would have thought of on my own.
This simple feature often removes the need for jerry-rigging several precariously placed mirrors around your bathroom, which is definitely a solution I WOULD have come to on my own. The LED light makes those hard-to-reach places a lot easier to see, and in doing so has made me feel much more competent with self-grooming. Who knows – maybe I’m a step away from my first pube fade.
The design is *chef’s kiss*. Okay, product nerd coming at you here, but you have to have some respect for the sleek design of The Lawn Mower 4.0.
We covered some of the design functionality, but definitely worth noting that the razor just looks really cool, too. I am particularly a fan of the discreetly-designed logo. When you see it, you see it. This collaborative limited-edition razor is also worth writing home about. The purple is truly one of a kind.
So, all in all, the cosmetic experience is a ten out of ten. But that doesn’t encompass the whole experience. While you’ve got your attention down there, it’s worth the time to stay on top of your health, too. MANSCAPED’s partnership with the Testicular Cancer Society is all about saving balls.
Saving Balls with MANSCAPED
You’ve heard it before, no doubt. Check once a month. Without any further context, you know what I’m talking about. Well, do you?
My car needs an oil change that I’ve been putting off. I’ve let my recycling bins pile up after being too lazy to take them out last week. Procrastination and saving it until later is deeply ingrained in our nature, but this is one of those simple tasks that, truly, could save your life.
The mission behind MANSCAPED and the Testicular Cancer Society’s collaboration is simple: they’re out to save balls. The easiest way to do that is to spread awareness around the importance of self-checking for early detection. Take it from the horse’s mouth here:
“Men’s health and hygiene is at the core of MANSCAPED™—it is the essence of our cause. This partnership will raise awareness on an issue that impacts men of all ages. Early detection is imperative. Not only do we feel compelled to get the word out, we feel that it’s our duty to do so.”
– MANSCAPED CEO Paul Tran
If the earlier conversation about uncomfortable topics resonated with you, buckle up. This is a necessary one that you’ll have to buck up and listen to! Here are a few of MANSCAPED’s best practices and advice for setting yourself up for routine success.
Download MANSCAPED’s Ball Checker app. Simply put, a little direction helps sometimes – even if it’s something you never think you’d look for instructions on. MANSCAPED has an app for this, which can serve as your one-stop resource for self-detection. You can find it wherever you download mobile apps and dig in from there.
Sign up for text reminders. Feeling good about the process, but need a reminder to lock it into your schedule? You are not alone. To get monthly text reminders when it’s time to make sure you’re good down there, you can text “selfexam” to 22999. Easy! Now, how about we set up a text line for everything else I need to be reminded about? (And FYI – your cell number is only used for the monthly reminders and you can opt-out anytime.)
Help to spread the word. Yes, you can play a part, too! There are lots of easy, low-resistance ways to make a difference in your direct community or the world at large, whether that be with a social media share or even a conversation around the dinner table. You never know who you might be helping.
And of course, a few extra bucks can also go a long way in moving the fight forward. The Testicular Cancer Society is an incredible organization – their efforts are geared towards providing support for folks going through the stages of testicular cancer – in their words, “fighters, survivors, and caregivers”. As a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit, you can make donations to them directly (or as an option through your next purchase with MANSCAPED) if you’re interested in making a difference in the lives of men and families affected by this disease.
Final Thoughts
This may seem like a lot of ball talk, and while it is, we’re arguing that the world could use a lot more of it.
Per the Testicular Cancer Society, someone is diagnosed with testicular cancer every hour, every day. That’s too much. Any amount is too much.
In a world where men’s physical and mental health are discussed more as taboo than a regular part of our lives, the best change we can make in our day-to-day lives is moving to speak about these issues with openness and compassion.
While we have a ways to go, there are resources available to ensure that you’re able to have a good handle on your personal self-detection, thanks to organizations like the TCS and MANSCAPED. So, set a reminder! Start tomorrow. It’s more than just staying groomed and clean, it’s about staying healthy!
Don’t forget to grab your Lawn Mower 4.0 and save 20% off!
