People’s fascination with the true crime podcast genre has only intensified over the past decade. Some center on famous crimes or serial killers, while others dive deep into unsolved murders and recent stories that have been in the news.

5. Dr Death

The best true crime podcasts combine engaging characters, unbelievable stories, and plenty of blood and guts. Dr Death fits this to a tee. Hosted by Laura Beil, each season of Dr Death deals with a case of medical malpractice.

The first season delves into Christopher Duntsch, a Texas surgeon found guilty of injuring 31 patients and killing two during surgery. 2. LEGO Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures (2008)

Drawing inspiration from another George Lucas creation, LEGO Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures follows the titular character in his adventures throughout the movie series. The game allows you to play scenes of your favorite moments from Raiders of the Lost Ark, Temple of Doom, and The Last Crusade.

The gameplay is similar to LEGO Star Wars, and the graphics also maintain the iconic LEGO style. There are six chapters you can play through, which include the main storyline and a free play mode if you prefer to explore on your own. There are 82 playable characters, 23 of which you can unlock by playing the main storyline, while the rest can be purchased from the in-game library.

3. The LEGO Movie Videogame (2014)

When The LEGO Movie was released in 2014, it represented a fresh, creative take on animated films. The film was based on the iconic construction toys from the brand, together with appearances by DC Comics characters like Batman, Superman, Green Lantern, and Wonder Woman. Its A-list cast drew millions of fans and earned almost $500 million worldwide.

LEGO City Undercover was released a year before The LEGO Movie videogame and has a lot of the same features, gameplay, and mechanics as the latter. The game was first released for the Nintendo Wii U but was eventually made available for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Microsoft Windows as well.

While The LEGO Movie is based on the construction toys line of the brand, LEGO City Undercover features its City toyline. You play as the police officer Chase McCain as he tries to take down crime boss Rex Fury. You can play in the standard single-player mode or in a local two-player multiplayer mode.

Hunt criminals in LEGO City with your skills and by using any of the available vehicles. A lot of the gameplay is inspired by the Grand Theft Auto video game franchise, so most players are likely to be familiar with how it all works.

5. LEGO Marvel Super Heroes (2013)

LEGO Marvel Super Heroes features all your favorite heroes from the Marvel Universe. You will work together to defeat Doctor Doom and Loki who have recruited their own group of super villains to destroy the Earth. They have built the Doom Ray of Doom and only Earth’s mightiest heroes can stop them.

This action-adventure game was released in 2013 for almost all platforms. It is available on Microsoft Windows, OS X, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Wii U, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo DS, Nintendo 3DS, PlayStation Vita, and even Android and iOS on mobile.

6. LEGO Harry Potter Collection (2016)

This set combines two very popular LEGO video games, which are LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4 and LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5-7. These games follow the protagonist Harry Potter and the main storyline is based on his years in Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

The gameplay includes solving puzzles, casting spells, crafting potions, and completing quests to progress in the story. Iconic locations like Diagon Alley, the Leaky Cauldron, the Hogwarts Express, Gringotts Bank, and Hogsmeade all make an appearance in the game.

If you are a fan of the novels or the movies, the LEGO Harry Potter Collection is your chance to visit the Wizarding World in the style only LEGO can build it in. 7. LEGO Jurassic World (2015)

Another one of LEGO’s famous collaborations with massive movie franchises, LEGO Jurassic World is one of its most popular games to date. Published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, the game follows the storyline of the first four films in the Jurassic Park series.

Most of the gameplay is about solving puzzles and exploring the environment. There are 20 levels, five each for every film that is covered. There are over 100 unlockable characters that you can play as, which includes about 20 dinosaur species. You can also play iconic figures like Dr. Alan Grant, Owen Grady, and Ian Malcolm. As you go through the levels, you will learn that each character has their own unique abilities.

8. LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham (2014)

The semi-open world environment lets you explore several locations in the DC Comics Universe. You can play as any of the over 150 characters available, and its gameplay includes puzzle-solving, combat, and collecting studs during missions. The game is played from a third-person perspective. Once you complete a level in Story Mode, you can play it again in Free Play mode.

9. LEGO The Lord of the Rings (2012)

The Lord of the Rings is one of the most popular fantasy novels and movie franchises of all time. It has no shortage of iconic heroes, villains, locations, and magical lore. LEGO The Lord of the Rings was released in 2012 and features a spoofed version of the original film trilogy’s storyline. LEGO adds humor to lighten up the drama and hardship in the original LOTR story.

10. LEGO Dimensions (2015)

Developed by Traveller’s Tales and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, LEGO Dimensions brings their most famous toys to life. It combines more than 30 different franchises that LEGO has collaborated with, to give players a lot of characters to choose from.

There are 14 levels in the main storyline which revolves around Gandalf, Batman, and Wyldstyle. You can also purchase additional level and story packs as expansions. Using the in-game toy pad, you can build iconic models like the TARDIS, Batmobile, DeLorean, or Mystery Machine.

The game is set in Foundation Prime, which is a planet in the center of the multiverse. It follows the story of the heroes from multiple franchises working together to stop Lord Vortech and his minion X-PO from collecting the 12 Foundation Elements and controlling the multiverse.

11. LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2016)

The second Star Wars game on our list, LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens was released a year after the film of the same name. The Force Awakens reignited the Star Wars movie franchise after a decade. The film is set 30 years after The Return of the Jedi, but the game also includes plot lines that happened within that time period.

There are more than 200 characters in the game, including household names like Rey, Finn, Han Solo, Kylo Ren, and the droids C-3PO and BB-8. You will get a chance to explore Jakku, D’Qar, and the Starkiller Base during the course of the story. The game also introduces Blaster Battles, which you can engage in against enemies.

You can play either the traditional single-player mode or the two-player cooperative gameplay. It also features voice acting from the actual film franchise’s actors like Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Adam Driver, Carrie Fisher, and Harrison Ford.

12. LEGO DC Super-Villains (2018)

LEGO DC Super-Villains is the first spin-off and fourth overall installment of the LEGO Batman video game series. The twist is that it focuses on the perspective of the DC Comics Universe’s villains as opposed to its heroes.

This is the first game in the LEGO video game franchise to allow for custom character creation. The storyline focuses on the villains after the disappearance of the Justice League. In a strange turn of events, the villains are now tasked with defending Earth from an invading group of supervillains from another universe. This brand new storyline provides a fresh take on the old good versus evil trope that comics have used for generations.

The game is available on Microsoft Windows, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and macOS. It received generally positive feedback from media outlets. Game Informer gave it an 8.5 out of 10 while IGN gave it 7.8 out of 10.

Blisters from wearing shoes can last anywhere between a few days to a couple of weeks. The only way to avoid this is by breaking in your new footwear. Most shoes typically have to be broken in, but boots take a lot longer than most. That is simply the price of wearing something sturdy that is designed to protect you from the elements.

Slowly and Safely

The most common way to break in your brand new boots is by taking it slow. You can wear them for a couple of hours every day until they lose most of their toughness. Make sure to remove them once your feet begin to get tired or uncomfortable. If you wear them for too long, your feet will get sore and blisters will begin to form. When you wear them to work, remember to bring an extra pair of more comfortable shoes as your backup.

A good strategy is to wear your boots every morning when going out for breakfast, coffee, or even while walking your dog. These activities typically take about an hour or so, which is just enough time for your feet to remain comfortable. After a couple of weeks, you can start wearing your boots for the whole morning at the office.

If you follow this routine consistently, your boots should be broken in comfortably after a month or two. You can even wear them while just walking around at home. Do it when you are cooking food, doing chores, or just relaxing in the living room. Another short activity you can wear your boots to is buying groceries. A trip to the supermarket generally takes less than an hour, so your feet should be able to handle that.

During the first few weeks, make sure not to wear your boots for too long or on strenuous activities. Do not go hiking, walking long distances, or running in them just yet. Also, wear thick, soft socks to protect your feet. It will also help if your feet stay warm and dry. Sweat can cause your feet to slide around more and potentially cause blisters.

Force It

​​Another way to break in your new boots is by forcing the process. You just need to replicate how the material actually moves when you are walking in them. This is the fastest but riskiest way to break in your boots. If you do it correctly, your boots should be good to go in just a couple of days. However, you may end up damaging your brand new boots if you apply too much pressure on the wrong areas.

You can start by stepping on your shoes. Try not to put your whole weight on them, but put just enough to work out the material. Stepping on your boots will bend them similarly to the angle when you walk in them. Another option is by squeezing them with your hands and slightly bending the sole.

Squeezing or crushing the boots with your hands will stretch out and soften their material. Remember to be gentle and not bend the sole too much. Only keep it to normal angles that will happen if you were actually wearing and walking in them.

If you want to take a more proactive approach, you can try exercising while wearing your new boots. This strategy might cause blisters, but it will definitely break in your boots much quicker. Do this for about 10 to 15 minutes a day so your feet won’t get sore. You can do a little jogging, jumping, and other light exercises. If you have hiking or sports socks, wear them while exercising to keep your feet comfortable.

Things to Remember

Get High-Quality Boots

The best way to prevent blisters and sore feet is by buying high-quality boots from trusted brands. Boots are an important investment, especially if you live in cold areas. If you buy cheap ones, you will end up with low-quality material that will wear out quicker and may end up hurting your feet in the long run. 

Purchasing a top-quality pair will last you several years and are usually much easier to break in much. So, if you get the best boots available, you might not even need to break them in for very long.

Get the Right Size

Finding the right size of boots is one of the most important factors to consider. By having a good fit, your feet won’t slip inside the footwear while walking, leading to blisters. You also do not want a pair that is too tight, as boots tend to have tough materials. 

Always choose boots that are just the perfect fit for you especially if you are the type to do a lot of walking and hiking. Get a pair that is not too tight, but snug enough to keep your feet in place. Always try them on before buying, as different brands have different size standards. 

Also, take note that your sneaker size will sometimes differ from your boot size because sneakers are much more forgiving in their fit. If you are unsure of your size or buying your first boots ever, ask for help from store employees. Most stores will have the right measuring devices to make sure you get the correct size.

Adjust the Laces

Boots will always be a little tighter in the beginning. To counter that, you can adjust your laces to be more comfortable. As you break the shoes in, they will gradually feel more spacious. 

Try loosening up your laces if your boots are new as this makes it easier to ease in and helps prevent you from getting blisters. Once you have broken them in, you can tighten the laces again to give you a snug fit.

Clean Your Boots Regularly

Having clean footwear is very important. If the leather in your boots gets too wet, too dry, or covered in mud, it may end up deformed. You need to make sure your boots are clean and have access to fresh air to prevent shrinkage and flaking. If you keep them in hot places, the leather will end up drying out.

If you leave them out in the cold too often, your boots will toughen up and all that breaking in will be for nothing. Room temperature is the optimal setting to keep your boots in. Even then, you should wipe them clean every week or so, to remove accumulated dust.

You can also use leather conditioners to keep your boots lubricated and maintain their natural color. Some products even make your boots water repellent so they will be protected from the elements at all times. Leather conditioner keeps your boots smooth, soft, and breathable. Make sure to only get trusted products that do not include harmful ingredients.

What Not to Do

Do Not Soak Your Boots in Water

Some guides may suggest that you soak your boots in water to soften them. You should not do this, especially with classic leather boots made from traditional materials such as cork. The water will ruin the footwear and result in them being damaged a lot sooner than expected.

This method may work better for boots that use synthetic materials such as certain types of hiking boots. A common practice is to soak the boots in warm water for about an hour before drying them off with a towel or sun-drying them.

Do Not Blow Dry Your Boots

Another method that some people have suggested is blow-drying your boots with warm air. This is quite risky as the heat can end up damaging or even melting some of the materials in your boots. If you are going to do it regardless, just make sure the air is not too hot and do not do it for extended periods.

The idea is to make the leather more malleable using heat. The problem is that leather can turn from malleable to dry in a matter of seconds. Although it is a risky method, you can use it for specific areas of your boots that hurt your feet. For instance, if a toe is rubbing on a certain area too much, the leather may be too stiff there. The same principle applies to the ankle area.

Do Not Use Shoe Stretching Sprays

There have been several products in recent years claiming to stretch your boots and shoes enough without having to break them in. These sprays will claim that they stretch the leather to mold to your feet. The problem is that most of these solutions contain alcohol, which is bad for leather.

Remember that leather is basically animal skin. Do not use anything on it that you would not use on your own skin. That includes copious amounts of rubbing alcohol and other chemicals.

If you really want to test if these shoe stretching sprays work, try them on an older pair of boots that you don’t mind damaging. You can also experiment by buying a cheap pair and seeing if the sprays end up breaking them in. Whatever the case may be, this is an expensive and risky method that is just not worth it most of the time.

Boot Stretchers Are Rarely a Good Idea

Boot stretchers will definitely stretch out the leather and other materials, but the fit will be your problem. Remember that all feet have different shapes and sizes and boot stretches cannot break in your boots to the exact size and shape of your feet.

Unless you have custom-made boot stretchers that are shaped exactly like your feet, you should not do this method. A boot stretcher functions the same as if you wear your boots for a long time. It will end up stretching the leather in areas you do not want it to while being too tough on others.

For example, it may give you a lot of room in the heel and toe area but can remain too narrow in the midfoot area, especially if you have wide feet. If you have even more irregular shapes on your feet like large ankles, extra big toes, or protruding joints, you are likely to struggle even more

You gamers have probably heard of the upcoming release of famous titles like Halo Infinite, SpellForce 3, and Disney Magical World 2: Enchanted Edition. 1. Halo Infinite

Platform: Microsoft Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

Release date: December 8.

One of the most anticipated games in recent years, this Xbox and Microsoft exclusive is set to take the gaming community by storm once it is released. Developed by 343 Industries and published by Xbox Game Studios, Halo Infinite is the sixth main entry in the popular Halo series. It is also the 14th game of the franchise overall.

The game continues the main storyline of the series and focuses on Master Chief after the events of Halo 5: Guardians. This first-person shooter features a semi-open world environment where you can explore most of the terrain. Iconic weapons, vehicles, and items, such as the popular Grapple Shot and Thruster, are included in the game as well.

The campaign mode allows you to follow the story, clear enemy forward operating bases, or fight enemies as much as you want. You earn Valor as you capture more bases, which you can then use to get new weapons and vehicles. In the multiplayer mode, there are different modes like deathmatch and capture the flag. You can also play the standard 4 v 4 or big team battle 12 v 12 settings.

A new development with Halo Infinite is that the multiplayer mode in the game is now free to play, unlike its previous installments. The multiplayer has been in open beta since November 15, 2021, as a way to celebrate the franchise and Xbox’s 20th anniversary.

2. Solar Ash

Platform: Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.

Release date: December 2.

Solar Ash is an all-new adventure platforming game set to be released as a PlayStation and Microsoft Windows exclusive. Platforming games have been popular since they were first introduced in the 1980s. Some of the most famous titles in this genre are Donkey Kong, Mario Bros., Super Mario 64, Contra, and Metal Slug.

Developed by Heart Machine and published by Annapurna Interactive, Solar Ash is set to be the next best platforming game. You play as Rei, a voidrunner inside a black hole who is trying to save her planet. You need to progress across the landscape, avoiding obstacles, and taking out enemies with your sword

While there is an element of combat in the game, the main focus is movement, much like classic platforming games. First announced in 2019 as a follow-up title to Hyper Light Drifter, Solar Ash is meant to be vastly different from the earlier game in terms of mechanics, technology, and other key innovations.

With independent games like Jump King, Pogostuck, and Getting Over It being some of the most played games by streamers in the last couple of years, Solar Ash has the potential to be a top-tier game. Originally set to be released in October 2021, the developers have moved the release date to December in order to fix minor bugs and polish the game as much as they can.

3. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge

Platform: Microsoft Windows and Nintendo Switch.

Release date: December 2021 or Q1 2022.

One of the most popular animated series of all time, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles has been a fan favorite among children for several generations. Its main quartet, named after Italian Renaissance artists, remains iconic figures with countless toys, clothing, and other merchandise.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge is a side-scrolling beat ‘em up video game set to be released for Microsoft Windows and the Nintendo Switch. Developed by Tribute Games and published by Dotemu, it is on track to be the next big title in the genre. Its pixelated art style is a throwback to classic beat ‘em up games like Kung-Fu Master, Street Fighter, and Virtual Fighter.

You can play as either of the four main characters, Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo, and Raphael, as well as their human ally, April O’Neil. Fight your way through the streets against popular villains in the series like the Foot Clan, Bebop and Rocksteady, Krang, and the iconic Shredder. The gameplay and design are inspired by classic games based on the same series like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge is meant to be released this December, but rumors persist it may be pushed back to Q1 of 2022, just in time for the 35th anniversary of the original animated series. It features single-player and multiplayer modes, with the latter supporting up to four players in local or online cooperative play.

4. SpellForce III Reforced

Platform: Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

Release date: December 7.

Originally released in 2017, SpellForce III was the third main title in the SpellForce video game series and the ninth overall game of the franchise. Serving as a prequel to the first game, SpellForce: The Order of Dawn, this game retains most of the gameplay, mechanics, and setting of the main series.

The Reforced version is set to be released in December 2021 for the fifth-generation consoles, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S. Combining elements of role-playing and real-time strategy games, SpellForce III Reforced follows the story of a mage called Tahar, as well as several supporting characters that help him on his journey.

You can use different weapons, collect items, and use your abilities to fight through enemies. The many maps let you gather resources, construct buildings, and create more units with their own set of abilities. The game also features both single-player and multiplayer modes, with the main campaign allowing up to two players in cooperative mode. If you are feeling competitive and tired of the campaign grind, you can opt to fight against AI or other real players.

The game’s isometric perspective allows you to rotate the display. Depending on which map you are playing in, you are sometimes able to control a whole group of characters.

5. Danganronpa Decadence

Platform: Nintendo Switch.

Release date: December 3.

Danganronpa Decadence is set to be released as a commemoration of the Danganronpa 10th anniversary in Japan. Rather than a single remastered game, Decadence includes the Anniversary Edition remastered versions of Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc, Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair, Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony, and Danganronpa S: Ultimate Summer Camp.

Developed and published by Spike Chunsoft, this collection will give players smoother, more polished versions of their favorite Danganronpa games. The developers have enhanced the user interface, touch controls, and added a lot of event scenes, new character voices, illustrations, and countless other design features.

One of the games included in the collection, Ultimate Summer Camp, is a standalone remaster of the board game type minigame, Ultimate Talent Development Plan (UTDP).  First released as a post-game bonus minigame in Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony, It is set in an alternate universe where all your favorite characters from the four main games can interact in a non-violent environment called Jabberwock Island.

In this new game, you can play as any of the main characters from the series and unlock more by earning cards through the Ultimate Card Death Machine. This element is similar to the MonoMono Machines in the main series. You can use your characters on the board game mode and level them up. Each party can include up to four characters, each with unique stats and abilities.  

6. Shredders

Platform: Xbox Series X/S.

Release date: December 2021 to February 2022.

Following in the footsteps of iconic snowboarding video games like ESPN X Games Pro Boarder, Shaun White Snowboarding, and SSx, Shredders is set to be the next big title in the genre. Hinting at a competitive multiplayer mode, this game might enter the meta of party games with friends just like the more popular FIFA and NBA 2K titles.

The game will provide players with a realistic snowboarding experience where you can let your imagination run wild. You can even combine the standard snowboarding movements and mechanics with your own unique style. Shredders gives players a lot of control over the game mechanics that will allow them to create the most unorthodox jumps possible.

Snowboarding is a sport that only people from specific places can play because it requires a certain climate. If you are not from a snowy place, Shredders is a great way to experience the sport from the comfort of your own home. Gameplay has not been featured in their trailers yet, but it seems like taking videos and posting on social media may be an added feature in the game.

7. Chorus

Platform: Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

Release date: December 3.

Developed by Fishlabs and published by Deep Silver, this upcoming combat video game is set in outer space. Chorus is a third-person perspective combat game that follows the story of Nara, a starcraft pilot who mans the famous Forsaken. With music from composer Pedro Macedo Camacho, Chorus boasts an immersive experience unlike any other.

The spaceship can be armed with a wide array of weapons like laser cannons, machine guns, turrets, and missile launchers to protect itself and take out enemies. There are three mod slots in the ship you can use to improve its performance in combat. While most of the game’s features have not been announced yet, the developers have hinted at several interesting mechanics.

The open-world environment allows you to explore Chorus’ version of space, where you can also go on various side quests, explore ancient temples and lands, and interact with other characters. Some side quests involve the temples and solving puzzles within them to get aether as rewards. Aether is a resource that grants Nara new combat abilities that will help her later on.

The game is set to be released in December 2021 for fourth and fifth-generation consoles and Microsoft Windows. It follows the popular space video game genre but introduces new combat mechanics and its own twist on spaceship combat.

8. Disney Magical World 2: Enchanted Edition

Platform: Nintendo 3DS andNintendo Switch.

Release date: December 3.

Originally released for the Nintendo 3DS in 2015, Disney Magical World became a very popular life simulation video game that introduced players to both new and old Disney characters and worlds. Developed and published by Bandai Namco Studios, the game is set to get a Nintendo Switch release in December 2021. During its original release, players in Japan were able to purchase Mickey Mouse-designed 3DS units together with the game.

With Disney bringing the game to the Switch, players have a chance to see their favorite Disney settings on a larger scale and with better graphics. This sequel to 2013’s Disney Magical World introduces new costumes, characters, worlds, and a lot of features. 

Characters from Mickey Mouse and Friends, The Three Little Pigs, Snow White, Pinocchio, Fantasia, Cinderella, The Little Mermaid, Frozen, and a host of other Disney films and animated series will make their appearance for the first time. There will also be additions from Peter Pan, Alice in Wonderland, Aladdin, Hercules, Lilo & Stitch, and Tangled, among others. It is frequented by corporate employees and college students from all over Metro Manila because of its relaxed ambiance, high-quality drinks, and delicious food.

For first-time visitors in Manila, OTO is a great first bar to check out. It has a more relaxed ambiance in contrast to the intimidating aura of the usual high-end bar, all while providing you with great drinks and food at affordable rates.

Poblacion is famous for its drinking and party scene, and Dulo MNL is one of its pillars. This bar is frequented by college students and young adults looking to party with their peers all night. Designed more like a restaurant with a bar as opposed to a club, Alegria Cozinha Moderna takes pride in their specialty cocktails, delicious hearty food, and unique take on sangria. Being BGC’s first sangria bar and living up to that title is quite an achievement in such a competitive industry.

You should try out any of Alegria’s nine full-bodied sangria flavors. You can order the full set with your friends and share them as well. Sangria is best paired with good food, so Alegria also offers their own twist on Latin American cuisine.

The Island at The Palace is known for throwing the biggest and wildest parties in the Metro. You will find guests of all ages here as it is situated in Uptown Bonifacio, Taguig, near a lot of colleges and corporate headquarters.

Perhaps the most unique bar on our list, iDarts is located on the C3 Annex Building at BGC’s 7th Avenue. Rather than the usual sit down pub or rave club, iDarts has installed a bunch of electronic darts machines all over the place.

Learning the right way to remove scratches from your glasses will save you a lot of money in the long run as you will no longer have to replace them every year due to wear and tear. You’ll also be able to avoid the awkward break-in period that comes with fresh new glasses.

Wipe To Clean Your Glasses

Before you do anything too drastic, you should try the fastest, safest, and simplest way to clean your glasses. When you get a new pair, they usually come with a case and a piece of microfiber cloth for cleaning. Use that to wipe your glasses down without damaging the lenses.

Microfiber is a synthetic fiber that is finer than most regular cloths and is used for clothing and accessories. Its individual strands are thinner than one denier or decitex, with a diameter of under ten micrometers. By comparison, a single strand of silk is about one denier thick. Human hair, on the other hand, is five times the thickness of silk.

Microfiber cloths are perfect for wiping down surfaces like glass, plastic, and similar materials on phone screens, computer monitors, and tablet screens. You should only ever clean your glasses using microfiber as other types of cloths can damage your lenses and cause even more scratches. So if you notice that your glasses seem to have small scratches, most of the time, a simple wipe can remove them.

Use Baking Soda Solution

If wiping does not remove the scratches, you can try using a baking soda solution to clean your glasses. Start by mixing one or two teaspoons of baking soda with some water, just enough so it becomes a paste. Make sure it is not too thick or too watery. It should be just thick enough so that you can apply it to your lenses without it dripping away.

Once you have the solution, carefully spread it over your lenses using a microfiber cloth. Next, gently rub the lens with the paste using the same microfiber cloth. Remember to use minimal pressure so it does not cause more damage. Do this for about 30 seconds on each lens. After that, let the baking soda paste rest on your glasses for a minute or two.

Next, rinse the baking soda off your glasses under a soft stream of water. You can use your sink or shower but make sure the pressure is not too strong. Rinse your glasses well to get rid of all the baking soda residue. Also, be careful not to drop your glasses while washing as the baking soda paste may make them slippery to hold on to.

Once you have washed them thoroughly, you should wipe them dry and clean them by using a microfiber fabric. Inspect your lenses to see if the scratches are still there. The baking soda solution does not work for deep and permanent marks, but it will certainly clean surface scratches and make your glasses look almost brand new again. 

Use Toothpaste

If the baking soda solution does not deliver, then using toothpaste can also be a viable alternative. But just like the previous method, toothpaste does not have guaranteed results either. However, as this is one of the most common items you can find in your home, there really is no harm in trying anyway.

The toothpaste is meant to be a mild abrasive that levels out minimal scratches on your lenses. Apply a little bit of regular toothpaste on your glasses and use a microfiber cloth to spread it around gently. Make sure to cover all the areas around the scratches. If you prefer, you can also just wipe it around the entire lens to make sure any micro-scratches are also covered.

The Radioactive Dentin Abrasiveness (RDA) scale is used by toothpaste brands to determine how abrasive or how soft their product is. Try to get anything below 80 RDA so you do not risk damaging your glasses even further.

After thinly spreading the toothpaste around, you can let it rest for a few minutes on your lenses. When they have hardened a bit, rinse them all off with a soft stream of water. Make sure to remove everything thoroughly because toothpaste can harm your eyes if you wear your glasses with residue still on them. Once you have removed all the toothpaste, wipe your glasses gently with microfiber again and check for scratches.

Try Using Sunscreen

For glasses with mirror coating, the sunscreen method is slightly more reliable than baking soda or toothpaste. This is assuming the scratch is only on the mirrored layer surface of your lens. If it is deep enough to cut into the plastic or glass, this method may not be too effective.

Furthermore, this also does not work as a spot treatment. The only way for this to work is by removing the entire layer of mirror coating, which is not exactly a good idea in the first place. However, desperate times require desperate measures, so with caution, we will teach you how to do it anyway.

Use sunscreen with SPF 45 for optimal results with this method. Rub the sunscreen on your lenses using a microfiber cloth. The fine aluminum powder in the sunscreen is meant to patch up the small scratches on your glasses. Spread the sunscreen thinly and let it sit for a few minutes. After that, you can wipe or wash it all off in the sink. Do this carefully to prevent scratching your lenses further.

After you have washed your glasses, wipe them clean with a microfiber cloth again. Check for any scratches and see if the method worked well. Remember to always be careful, especially with glasses that have UV protection or dark lenses as this method may end up damaging the coating instead. If the scratches are too minor and do not really hinder you from functioning properly, we suggest that you refrain from trying this method at all.

Glass Etching

Glass etching is an effective but dangerous method in removing scratches from your glasses. This method takes off damage coating from your lenses if they are too scratched. You will need etching cream, glass cleaner, some tape, plastic gloves, and microfiber cloth.

You should only use this method on plastic or polycarbonate lenses and never on actual glass. Otherwise, it will completely ruin your glasses to a point that you may not be able to use them anymore. First, hold your glasses facing away from you while wearing plastic gloves. You can then pour a small amount of the glass etching cream on the lenses.

Rub the etching cream gently all over the lenses. Make sure not to rub any etching cream on the frames because it may damage the color or structure. Do this for about two minutes or so. After that, you can rinse away the cream under soft, warm water. Try to remove everything, especially the residue that may get stuck in between the lens and frame.

Wipe off the water from your glasses using a microfiber cloth. Check your glasses under some light to see if the scratches have been removed successfully. If there are still minor scratches remaining, you can repeat the process the next day. Do not apply the glass etching cream immediately after the first clean as it may damage your lenses permanently. 

Carefully Use Sandpaper

Sandpaper may sound like a very dangerous item to use on your precious glasses and that is because it is. This method is more likely to damage your glasses than fix them, so you should only ever do this as a last resort. If your glasses are still fairly usable, do not use sandpaper on them. Reserve this process for glasses that are full of scratches and otherwise barely usable.

This method works under the idea that the sandpaper will grind your lens down to the level of the scratch. This thins down your lenses and may damage the vision correction and UV protection features. Sandpaper is best used for cosmetic eyeglasses or sunglasses. Never do this for prescription eyeglasses.

Rub the sandpaper on your glasses for a minute or two. Once you feel like you have leveled out the scratches, stop using the sandpaper. You can then use a buffing wheel to polish and smooth out your lenses further. This will give them that brand new shine back.

After that, wipe off your glasses with a microfiber cloth again to remove all the extra glass particles. Do this thoroughly because tiny glass particles can cause a lot of damage to your eyes if they are in contact with them. In some cases, you may even need medical attention if too much gets in your eye.

Just Get New Glasses

If you have exhausted all means and your glasses are still scratched, it would be best to just buy new ones. If they are prescription glasses, go to your local optical clinic to have them replaced. This may also be good for you in case your vision correction levels have changed. That way, you can get new glasses that are better fitted for you.

In the unlikely event that you tried all the methods but your glasses are still somewhat usable, you can probably keep them as your backup pair just in case. You can use them at home or when exercising.

When purchasing a new pair of glasses, make sure they have an extra protective coating that prevents scratches in the future. While you are there, you can also ask the doctor or staff for suggestions on how to prevent scratches. They can give you some tips or even products that will help you with this.

Prevent New Scratches

Once you have purchased new glasses, your top priority should be protecting them from scratches. You do not want to go through the entire process of removing the scratches once more without any guarantee that the methods will work.

A good way to achieve this is by putting your glasses back in their case whenever you are not using them. Avoid placing your glasses on any hard surfaces like tables or chairs. Also, never wear your glasses on your head as your hair could scratch the lenses. Putting them in your shirt pocket is another way to damage your lenses accidentally. If you do not have your case nearby, avoid taking off your glasses at all.

When your glasses have been exposed to the elements for a while, clean them with a microfiber cloth. But check it first and make sure there are no coarse materials on the lenses to avoid scratching them instead.

One of the oldest and most practical pieces of advice that doctors will give you is that prevention is better than cure. You should always handle your glasses with care so you won’t have to bother trying to remove scratches from your glasses in the future.

World of Warcraft is estimated to have more than 110 million subscribed players in total, with about one million players logging in per day. With the Shadowlands expansion pack release in 2020, the game has had a resurgence in hype and patronage. The next expansion pack is set to be launched in 2022.

2. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

A favorite game of the 2010s, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is as good as it gets. Developed and published by CD Projekt Red, it is the third installment of the Witcher series that is based on the collection of fantasy novels written by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowki. It was first released in 2015 and is currently available on the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S, Nintendo Switch, and Microsoft Windows.

Wild Hunt is set in a fictional world based on Slavonic mythology. You play as Geralt of Rivia, a monster hunter who is also called The Witcher. Geralt is looking for his missing daughter while he is also being chased by the mythical Wild Hunt. Gameplay includes melee or magic combat, abilities, and different types of movement mechanics.

For the attack mechanics, you have the option for light and quick attacks or slow and strong heavy attacks. There are a wide array of weapons you can use, including swords, crossbows, and bombs. Swords in particular have limited endurance so you will have to repair them from time to time. There are five magical signs that Geralt can use to give him different powers and abilities. Critics and players have praised the game for its gameplay, storyline, world design, mechanics, and optimization.

3. Demon’s Souls

Demon’s Souls is a cult classic action-adventure video game developed by FromSoftware and released in 2009 for the PlayStation 3. It is sometimes known as the spiritual successor to the popular King’s Field series from the same developers. This game also produced a whole franchise that is now more commonly known for the Dark Souls installments of the series.

Set in the fictional kingdom of Boletaria, the world is seemingly consumed by a dark being known as the Old One. You are brought to the kingdom and are tasked to pacify the Old One by killing the fallen king Allant. Players can fully customize their character’s gender and appearance before starting the game. You can also choose from several character classes, which vary in terms of base stats.

Throughout the story, you will navigate five different worlds from a hub called the Nexus. Every world is divided into four areas, each with a unique boss that you must defeat. There are 22 bosses in total, including the Real King Allant. Combat mechanics rely on weapon strikes, blocks, and movement. The stamina bar limits the number of actions you can do consecutively.

The game was remade by Bluepoint Games for the PlayStation 5 in 2020. Demon’s Souls was released as a launch title for the console.

4. Baldur’s Gate 2: Shadow of Amn

Another classic game on our list, Baldur’s Gate 2: Shadow of Amn is the sequel to 1998’s Baldur’s Gate. This role-playing game was developed by BioWare and published by Interplay Entertainment in 2000 for Microsoft Windows. It was then made available for Mac OS the following year.

The game is set in the fantasy world of the Forgotten Realms and is inspired by the Advanced Dungeons & Dragons 2nd Edition rules. Its unique isometric perspective and pausable real-time gameplay stand out from most RPGs of its era. 

You play as the protagonist, Gorion’s Ward, who is carefully being watched by the powerful wizard Irenicus. Through your character, you will take control of a party of five other characters. You can fully customize your character’s class, ability points, appearance, and alignment. The main quest of the game takes about 50 to 60 hours to complete. If you want to finish all the side quests as well, the game is estimated to take more than 200 hours of gameplay.

Baldur’s Gate II: Shadows of Amn has sold more than two million copies worldwide. Its massive success also led to the release of an expansion pack, Throne of Bhaal, and an Enhanced Edition in 2013.

5. Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

We cannot talk about games for Skyrim fans without including another Elder Scrolls installment on the list. Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is the fourth main installment in the Elder Scrolls series and the direct predecessor of Skyrim. It was developed by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks and 2K Games.

Set in an open world environment, this action role-playing game (RPG) allows players to go on quests, interact with non-playable characters (NPCs), hunt monsters, and explore the province of Cyrodiil. The open-ended gameplay is also unique for games of its kind. You can keep playing and exploring the world even after you have completed the main storyline.

Oblivion takes place in the Third Era, around six years after the events of The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, but its storyline does not follow the events of the previous installments. This game was praised by critics as one of the best games during its release year. It has sold more than 9.5 million copies worldwide since.

6. Kingdom Come: Deliverance

Released in 2018, this action role-playing game was developed by Warhorse Studios and published by Deep Silver. Kingdom Come: Deliverance was made available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Amazon Luna, and Microsoft Windows.

The game is set in the medieval Kingdom of Bohemia in 1403. Bohemia is an Imperial State of the Holy Roman Empire and is ruled by King Wenceslaus IV. You play as Henry, whose family and townspeople are massacred by mercenaries hired by the Hungarian King Sigismund. The storyline follows Henry as he joins the resistance movement and seeks revenge for his people.

The open-world environment, historical accuracy, combat mechanics, and immersive gameplay all contribute to the experience in Kingdom Come: Deliverance. The game received positive reviews from critics and players, including an 84 out of 100 rating from PC Gamer (UK). It has since sold more than three million copies worldwide.

7. Dragon Age: Origins

One of the most popular RPGs in recent years, Dragon Age: Origins is a product of BioWare and Electronic Arts. The first installment of what would become the Dragon Age franchise, Origins was released in 2009 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

The game is set in the fantasy kingdom of Ferelden where there is a civil war between races and groups looking to gather power for themselves. You can choose to be part of the elven, human, or dwarven race and pick one of three character classes.

Being a warrior, rogue, or mage comes with unique skills and abilities. Warriors are skilled at strong physical attacks, rogues are great at stealth attacks and thievery, while mages cast different spells and support their teammates. With third-person perspective gameplay, you go through the world trying to defeat the Archdemon, who is the leader of the evil forces known as Darkspawn.

Dragon Age: Origins received overwhelmingly positive reviews from media outlets shortly after its release. GameSpot gave it a 9.5 out of 10, while Giant Bomb awarded it a perfect five stars.

8. Fallout 4

Fallout 4 is the fourth main installment of the very popular Fallout series. It was developed by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Microsoft Windows in 2015.

The game is set in a post-apocalyptic version of Massachusetts that is now known as The Commonwealth. Famous landmarks like Bunker Hill, Old North Bridge, and Fort Independence all make an appearance in this open-world environment.

The game’s events take place in the year 2287, about 10 years after the story of Fallout 3. The Great War has caused nuclear devastation in the entire United States, and the survivors are fighting for the few resources that are left. You play as the Sole Survivor, whose spouse was murdered and child was taken away. Your goal is to explore the Commonwealth in search of your son.

You can complete quests, fight enemies, help out factions, and improve your character through leveling up and enhancing your abilities. For the first time in the series, you are now also able to develop and manage settlements and craft drugs and explosives from scavenged materials.

9. Horizon Zero Dawn

Horizon Zero Dawn is known to some players as the mecha version of Skyrim. Instead of the medieval and magical themes of the latter, this game is set in a world overrun by machines. Developed by Guerrilla Games and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment, it was released in 2017 for the PlayStation 4 and Microsoft Windows.

This third-person perspective action RPG follows the main character, Aloy, as she explores the world in an attempt to find answers regarding her past. As a hunter, you can use both melee and ranged weapons, as well as stealth mechanics to defeat your enemies. There is also a skill tree that you can use to develop your abilities and stats using experience.

You can set traps, shoot enemies with arrows, or use explosives to take out several at once. Crafting is also a major element in the game, as you need to craft your ammo, pouches, quivers, medicine, and traps using different resources that you can scavenge.

10. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

One of the most highly anticipated video game titles in the last five years, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was released for the Nintendo Switch and Wii U in 2017. The Zelda franchise has remained a cult classic since the original game took the world by storm in 1986.

Breath of the Wild is the 19th installment in the series and features the iconic protagonist Link, who wakes up from a century-long slumber to try and save the Kingdom of Hyrule. You will need to defeat Calamity Ganon, the main villain in many of the previous installments.

The beautiful open-world environment is one of the game’s top selling points. You can run, swim, or even paraglide around the terrain to look for food, items, or characters to interact with.

Although it was only released four years ago, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is already considered one of the greatest video games of all time. It also ranked 31st on the list of the best-selling video games ever, despite being a Nintendo exclusive title.

There are dozens of board games to choose from, whether you prefer to play alone, with a partner, or as a group. Games like chess and checkers only allow for two players at a time while Monopoly and Dungeons & Dragons can have a lot more.
