Wolverine Teams With Metallica for Limited Edition Boots
On the heels (pun intended) of their collaboration with leading sneaker brand Vans, Metallica has joined forces with American bootmaker Wolverine for a stylish capsule collection. The partnership sees Wolverine team with Metallica’s All Within My Hands Foundation (AWMH) for a line of boots and clothing known as the Encore Collaboration. 50% of sales of this limited edition collection will benefit the Metallica Scholars Initiative who provides support programs within community colleges to help prepare students for employment.
The collection is made up of three limited edition boots, a hoodie and beanie, along with a graphic T-shirt. All the designs have been created by longtime Metallica collaborator Brandon Heart, who has been responsible for the majoirty of Metallic’s merch over the years.
Of the footwear options in the Wolverine x Metallica Scholars Encore Collaboration, it’s the Wolverine 1000 Mile Plain Toe Rugged boot that stands out. Handcrafted in the US from matte black Horween leather, these heavy duty boots have a rock and roll edge, with AWHM blue stitching, limited edition tongue-tag, metal toe kicker, and a beastly Vibram outsole. There’s even a kickass guitar pick hangtag sporting the Metallica and Wolverine logos.
The other two options are the Wolverine Hellcat UltraSpring Work Boot and Wolverine Hellcat UltraSpring Wedge. The Work Boot has a gold rated premium waterproof full-grain leather upper, AWMH detailing, metallic accents, and comes in either soft or safety toe styles, making it the perfect workboot for outdoors. The Wedge features the same construvtion but with a classic wedge design.
“We’re proud to continue celebrating and supporting the next generation of skilled tradespeople through partnerships with exceptional organizations and initiatives like Metallica Scholars,” said Tom Kennedy, global brand president for Wolverine. “We hope Metallica fans will love and wear this collection with pride, knowing they are joining us in supporting the future American workforce.”
Along with the three boot designs, Metallica fans can pick up a hoodie and beanie featuring the Metallica Scholars logo, along with a graphic t-shirt. As you would expect, all items come in black, with the t-shirt featuring a skull and tool crossbones in tribute to the trades programs the collection supports. Not only are the proceeds going towards a great cause, but over 900 Metallica Scholars across the States will score a pair of boots and a t-shirt.
First launched in 2019, the partnership has seen Wolverine contribute more than $300,000 to the Metallica Scholars Initiative.
“We are grateful to be part of helping the world’s workforce stay strong through the Metallica Scholars Initiative, and Wolverine shares our passion for supporting and celebrating the people who are the future of the workforce,” said Metallica’s James Hetfield. “This partnership will continue to shine a light on the opportunities in the skilled trades and support students as they work toward establishing rewarding, sustainable careers.”
The items in the collection range from $10 for the beanie up to $400 for the Wolverine 1000 Mile Plain Toe Rugged Boot. You can purchase the Wolverine x Metallia collection now via Wolverine.
