Get to Antarctica’s First-ever Tennis Match on an Exclusive Cruise
The exclusive cruise will take travelers to Antarctica with the McEnroes for the first-ever tennis match on the continent in February 2022.
Professional athletes are no stranger to globetrotting; John McEnroe, the tennis Hall-of-Famer, is a great example. Teaming up with his brother, Patrick McEnroe (winner of the Davis Cup and an ESPN personality), he is bringing tennis to new corners of the planet.
The VIP Antarctica Open voyage will be hosted by the McEnroe duo from February 22nd to March 5th of 2022. The Atlas World Navigator’s voyage will charter 140 guests, each of whom is invited to personally attend the first professional tennis match to be played on the land.
John McEnroe stated this about the cruise: “I’m excited to travel to Antarctica and play my brother Patrick in the first-ever professional tennis match on the seventh continent.”
Summarizing the sentiment, he added, “This will be an epic adventure and a one-of-a-kind expedition.”
Before travelers will get to lounge upon the Veranda Stateroom or Seaside Spa on the ship, there will be a journey on a private jet (from Orlando, Florida to Ushuaia, Argentina).
From Argentina, the 12-day, 11-night itinerary outlines a plan to spend the time on a more environmentally-friendly ride.
The ship will depend on some pretty advanced technology to navigate the waters. The Drake Passage will be easily routed for quick access to both the South Shetland Islands and the Antarctica Peninsula.
Special guides have been hired to discuss pertinent subjects aboard: climate change, wildlife, photography, and ecology are all on the menu. With plans to visit a glacial volcano, hot springs and black sand beaches, and blue walters well-suited to kayaking, tons of excitement is in store.
Animal lovers should bring a telescope to get a peek at the penguins, dolphins, and seals that call the area home. If that is not enough, a casual chat with the McEnroes is sure to make for great entertainment.
High-level cabins and packages, including the Superstar Suite, are priced at $54,999 per person. The Player’s Suite tops out at $84,990. VIP access is granted for fun events like private meals, cocktail parties, and zodiac rides. The top three suites can even have a doubles match.
Just to board will run about $14,990. All meals, drinks, and Wi-Fi are included.
